1960s - 1970s Modernist Pendant in Plated White Metal (SOLD)
This funky modern pendant consists of layers of textured triangles applied on an abstract crescent design. Some of the triangles have a textured finish and others remain smooth, which along with the layering, gives a very modern finish to this pendant necklace. The necklace dates from the mid 1960s to the early 1970s when designs of this type were first introduced. The pendant is made of a plated silver tone finished metal on a white metal chain. The chain has no opening clasp it simply is long enough to fit over your head. It does have a larger ring at the back of the chain which may have originally attached to a deisgner tag. The chain is approximated 26 inches all round and the pendant measures around 5cms in diameter with a depth of 1 cm made up by the layering of the little triangles. This is a quality piece of jewellery and is no doubt a designer piece. It has the numbers 1540 marked on the back which I would imagine are the designer number for a particular maker. The item is very like the work of Sarah Coventry of Canada so could be from that maker. The pendant is in excellent condition and would look very stylish today.
