1950's/1960's Amazing Signed 'Exquisite' Necklace with Gilt Lizards and Faux Jade Gems (Sorry sold)
This necklace, which is the work or the Birmingham Company W.A.P. Watson, bears their 'Exquisite' signature and dates from around the 1950s to 1960s. It is kitsch and quirky and so unusual! The main metal is a textured goldtone finish. This great necklace looks as if it has come from a treasure box as it depicts three lizards curling around green glass jewels, almost like they are guarding them! These faux jade gems are oval pressed glass cabouchons with floral details. Each of the seven oval jewels measure about 2cms by a little over 1cm. The necklace measures a little over 18 inches in length from the hook over clasp to the Pekin glass bead, which dangles at the end of the gilt chain. The necklace can be fastened choker like or a little longer to suit the wearer. This is showstopping jewelry and is bound to get noticed! The condition is excellent and this piece would be great for 'Exquisite' collectors or for vintage jewellery enthusiasts.
