1950's Marcasite Spray Brooch (SOLD)

This brooch is  typical of 1950's design - a spray of curved leaves with a bow tied around them.  This  vintage costume brooch is made of rhodium plated metal and is silvertone in colour.  It is set with lots of sparkling natural faceted marcasites.  The back of the brooch has a textured finish, like a design of small triangles and it is reminiscent of the work of the English makers - Kigu who were responsible for a range of powder compacts and stylish costume jewellery and accessories back in the 1950s.  Measuring approximately 2.25 by 1.5 inches this vintage brooch is in excellent condition.  It fastens with a nice long pin and a 'roll over' type clasp.  The 'open' nature of the design would make this a winner on all colours as they would show through and contrast with the silver and marcasite.
