1950's Marcasite and Blister Pearl Necklet (Sold)

Here is a vintage marcasite necklace from the fabulous fifties.  It is made up of 15 individual panels and links of rhodium coated metal set with faceted natural Marcasite stones.  To the centre is a bold panel of leaves with two blister pearls and this is flanked by two smaller panels with a foliate design and a single blister pearl in each. The design is echoed in each of the smaller necklace links and finishes with a bolt ring fastener. Although unsigned, this is a quality piece of jewellery and it wouldn't suprise me if it was made by the English Costume Jewellery company Kigu, a top maker of necklaces, earrings and compacts in the 1950's and 1960's.  Many collectors of Vintage Costume Jewellery and Compacts ensure their collection has something from the Kigu brand.  The blister pearls used are more of a white tone and the Marcasite is steely grey.  It sparkles gently and may appeal to those who find diamante and paste jewellery a little too loud for their taste.  Measuring approximately 15.5 inches in length, this necklace is in beautiful condition and would be perfect for bridal wear.
