1950's Diamante Drop Necklace - Romantic Style (SOLD)
The dropper on this amazing vintage necklace really has to be seen to be believed! It is a huge teardrop shaped piece with a central foiled back diamante stone surrounded by small circular foil backed crystals and then navette shaped open set jewels. The pendant dropper is almost an inch and a half by just over 1 inch in size. It is suspended from a shaped central panel also set with open back white crystal jewels. Then there are two neat rows of same size circular foil backed diamante to either side and a single length of diamante jewels until we reach the bolt ring clasp and spacer chain with alternating diamante and circles. The length of the necklace in total is just under 16 inches but this can vary from 14 inches (choker style) to 16 inches necklet style depending on where you fasten the necklace. This style of necklace dates back to the 1700s when huge droppers of rock crystal were worn on necklets and earrings. This necklace dates to circa 1950s and has all the quality of a designer piece but is unsigned. The diamante necklace is bright and sparkling, it is set in white metal and is in excellent condition. Perfect for Bridal wear, this necklace is divine and oh so romantic...
