1950s Brooch - Victory Laurel Style Pin - Gorgeous Vintage Designer Jewellery
This is a superb jewelled brooch from the 1950s. The choice of colours, the shapes of the jewels and the open and closed stone settings to show the colours to perfection are what makes this Victory Laurel brooch such a special example. Costume jewellery from the highest quality manufacturers always featured more unusual stones like in this piece. The couture houses and top makers usually chose the very best crystal glass jewels from businesses like Swarovski, often commissioning the stones in exclusive colours or unusual special shapes.
So we have jewels in an olivine green, blue and brown colours in two different chaton shapes with just one blue tiny round jewel too. The brooch is set in a gold tone metal with the jewels claw set and is in Excellent condition. Measuring by it fastens with a guarded roll over type clasp.
I am sure that this brooch is by a top maker but is unfortunately not signed. Vintage jewellery suites or parures were popular and often only one item in the set is actually marked with the manufacturers' signature or sometimes a paper tag was applied . Over the years pieces get separated from the rest of their set and tie on tags are naturally removed.
