1940s Curled Leaf Brooch set with Sparkling Diamante Jewels (sold)
Brooches from the post World War Two era had a distinctive glamorous style and this fabulous jewelled pin perfectly sums up that time. Designed as curled leaf, with a feather-like look, this vintage brooch is 3D and impressive. Measuring 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches at its widest and longest points it also has a depth of slightly more than half an inch, giving a natural dome to the design. All of the diamante glass crystal jewels are original. There are 22 neat baguette cut (rectangular) stones along the centre vein of the leaf all of the same size. The pointed fronds that make up the leaf are all set with circular stones in three different sizes - more than 150 round diamond-cut jewels! Some of the jewels have slightly changed tone over the years. This only adds to the antique effect of this stunning brooch. Obviously a costly, high-end piece in its day the brooch is finished with a thick shiny Rhodium plate. The pin fastens to a guarded 'c' type clasp. The piece is in very good condition and would be lovely for a wedding. It would look perfect on a jacket and its curled design would also make it a stylish addition to a smart hat.
