1930's/1940's carved Bakelite Yellow Rose Pendant on Silver Chain (sold)
This hand-carved Rose pendant is a good example of Bakelite jewelery from the 1930's and 1940's. The rose has an almost Art Deco styling to it. Originally this item would have been Cream in colour with the Bakelite used to imitate Ivory or Bone. Over the 60 plus years that this pendant has been around it has oxidised to a warm, rich amber colour - just the thing that Bakelite collectors look out for! The rose is deep-carved and is approximately 1 inch in diameter and about half and inch thick at its biggest point. The rose has been put onto a newer 18 inch Sterling Silver chain so it is just right to wear!
