1930s Clutch Purse - Brown Woven Straw Raffia with Padlock Detail

This tobacco brown coloured clutch purse is most unusual.  This little bag is made from a straw or raffia type material which has a woven effect..  It dates from the 1930s and is in really good condition.  The bag is a fairly simple design with the neat rows being the same to the front and the back where a self handle is in place.  It has an envelope shape to the front and at the point of the flap over front there is the sweetest tiny padlock decoration.  There is also a decorative row of open loops making a pretty fringe along the bottom edge. Unlined and of a natural material , the bag is nevertheless robust.  This Deco handbag's back strap strap will allow it to be held or to be suspended from a belt.    The size is approximately 6 inches by 4 inches at the widest points. This 1930s evening purse is in great condition.  I have never seen such a small purse in this material before.  It would be lovely to add to a vintage handbag collection or to use for storing a special document or letter keepsake.
