1930's Beaded Evening Bag (Sorry this item has sold)

This fabulous hand-beaded evening bag is approximately 20 cms(8ins) wide by 14cms(5.5ins).  It has a beaded over strap handle and a flap-over top with a press stud to close it.  The fabric colour is a soft cream and the beadwork includes tiny off-white bugle beads, small cream faux pearl beads and shiny beige/bronze beads.  The design includes floral panels with a diamante in the middle of each flower.  The lining of the bag is cream satin .  There is a small pocket stitched in to the bag which would have been intended for a mirror and it has a tiny label that just says 'foreign'.  The bag is most likely continental European, a lot of this kind of work was done  in France and Belgium in the Art Deco period.  The condition is excellent and the bag is robust enough to use, with care.  An elegant item from the stylish 1930's era.
