1930's Bead Necklace - Blue Mixed Glass and Wired (SOLD)
The mix of glass beads in this lovely little 1930's necklace makes it a sure vintage winner! Here we have faux lapiz lazuli glass beads, bright blue venetian style foiled beads and faceted clear blue crystal beads in several sizes. The tinest beads are just 3mms in diameter whilst the largest central soft blue faceted crystal bead is approx 10 mms. I would guess that this is a Czech glass creation as it has beautifully crafted beads and the pressed filigree detail you get with antique Bohemian jewellery. There are floral style bead caps used to cup most of the beads and neat chain work holding the necklace together. Chained necklaces are always useful as they do not need to be rethreaded like silk strung beads do! This sweet necklace is just 16 inches in length, so it is ideal to wear inside a collar or with higher necked clothes. It is in very good condition and I love the way the metal has oxidised so it is dull and has no shine. Antique and Vintage jewellery collectors, who like the soft patina that develops over lots of decade of wear, will really appreciate this. If you like very bright 'new' looking metal then this is not a necklace for you, although it's metal parts could be 'cleaned up' but I feel it would spoil it! The necklace fastens with a brass metal twist clasp.
