1930s Art Deco Era Buttons from France (sold)
Delightful daisies adorn these dark navy/almost black buttons! Each Daisy has six petals and these petals are interspersed with little circles. There are a dozen useful buttons on offer here. How delightful to get lots of lovely buttons on their original card! It is always great for vintage fashion collectors to discover items, unused, like this. The card is entitled NOUVEAUTE so it is a safe bet to say they have been made in France. They appear to be made of a plastic composition - some sort of bakelite era plastic that has had the design cut into the surface on each button to stylish effect. It is likely that the buttons are Casein or Galilith. Each daisy button is slightly over 2cms in diameter and 3mms thick. The price is for the card of 12. I would estimate that these buttons date back to the 1930s or maybe 1940s art deco period. Nice to collect and robust enough to use too!
