1930's 1940's Butterscotch Casein Buckle (SOLD)
This lovely double buckle is made of the milk-based plastic, Casein, and is a "Bakelite Era" piece. I think it is a sort of Butterscotch colour or Cafe Latte! It features two stylised flowers, possibly a cornflower or maybe a thistle flower. These have been deep carved onto the piece by hand, along with some grass type leaves. The buckle has a chrome piece on each side to enable you to attach it to a belt and it hooks together in the middle with a chromed clasp. It is quite a good size being approx 10cms (4 ins) by 5cms (2ins). This is perfect for a collector of early plastic jewellery and buckles and would make a great addition to any vintage costume jewellery collection.
