1920's Italian Millefiore Bead Flapper's Necklace (SOLD)
This Flapper Necklace dates from the 1920's and consists of hundreds of tiny brown glass seed bead. These have been threaded in four rows and also make up the decorative tassle. The little seed beads are spaced by round green glass beads which have the appearance of malachite with white milk glass beads and a total of four stunning hand crafted millefiori disc beads. The chunky millifiore discs measure a little under an inch in diameter and are a quarter of an inch thick. Each bead has many coloured rods worked through - white, several shades of blue, yellow, green, burgundy, orange and red. This type of work is often known as Venetian or Murano because many of the handcrafted techniques used to create decorative glass were developed there. It is most likely Bohemian in manufacture. This necklace measures 30 inches round and then has the dangling part which is approximately 12 inches including the 5 inch tassle. This is a super antique beadwork item in good order and would be a great addition to any 1920's wardrobe.
