1920's Flapper Armlet decorated with Elephants (SOLD)
This bracelet has a black coloured overwash and cream coloured background to imitate ivory. It is decorated with the silhouettes of four comical elephants with their trunks outstretched reaching out to branches with leaves. It is made of Celluloid or 'Ivorine'. Celluloid is an early bakelite-era plastic used for costume jewellery from late Victorian times until the 1940s. This piece is in good vintage order but I must point out there is a little tiny bit of colour fading around one rim of the bangle which doesn't detract from its appeal but is mentioned to ensure you will not be disappointed. Measuring 3 inches (almost 8cms) across the inside, it was intended to be worn above the elbow in the roaring 20's. The generous size makes it ideal for grouping together with other bangles. It is a nice chunky rounded piece and would make a great gift for anyone who loves Elephants.
