1920's Pressed Glass Flapper Bead Necklace with Elephants (SOLD)
This is a very nice necklace made up of individual press-moulded glass beads. The beads date from circa 1920's and are probably Bohemian. There is a triangle shaped deorative pendant with a pressed elephant design on it. There are two large elephant beads and a series of decorated cylinder beads and rounds which have the appearance of beads from antiquity. These necklaces were much loved by flappers and are sometime's known as 'Flapper's Beads'. Most of the beads are ivory cream with the details picked out in brown wash and to contrast there are some red round beads. I would think that these beads are on their original silk with knots in between each, yet the necklace appears wearable but is likely to need rethreading soon. The length is 30 inches all round to the Triangular Pendant Bead with a further four and a half inches making up the drop which includes the pendant. The necklace slips easily over the head and does not have any kind of clasp. It is in fair vintage order.
