1920's Faux Tortoiseshell Haircomb with Cornucopia design(Sorry this item has been sold)
This really is the sweetest tiny comb I have seen for a long time. It is quite a miniature size being only 4cms at its widest point with a total length of around 11cms. It dates from the period where Art Nouveau style was still in but Art Deco was emerging so it has some of the elements of both of these design periods - I guess it is transitional in that respect! Made from celluloid, it has been decorated with a painted cornucopia design with some leaves and three flower heads spilling out. To enhance it further it has been set with 5 tiny sapphire blue glass gems. This would be super to wear or perfect to add to your vintage accessories or early plastic bakelite era jewelry collection. It would also be small enough for a little girl to really love it!
