1920's - 1930's Art Deco Chain Mesh Purse (Sorry this item is sold)

This gorgeous little Art Deco chain mesh purse is made of brass which has been over painted to give a colourful random pattern, just the thing for the Flapper in her day!  Now, 80 plus years later, the colours have faded to a subtle hint of their past, gentle flashes of orange, pink and yellow remain and it still looks really lovely.  The purse has fringing to the bottom and the little frame is decorated and finished in a 'kissing clasp' topped by two faux sapphire cabochons. It is dinky in size, measuring just over 3 and a quarter by 4 inches (8cms x 10cms   ) with an 8 inch( almost 21cms) chain. Inside it has been lined with a soft pink fabric which is in good vintage order.  The chain mesh is great too, with no holes or missing bits, quite a rariety for these purses.  I once found an old household advice article in a magazine from the 1940's  which suggested that 'old fashioned' mesh purses made excellent pot scourers! Oh perish the thought!I wonder how many little gems ended their days cleaning pots? Still between 1939 and 1945  Britain was busy "make doing and mending "so you could say that mesh purses played their part in the war effort! This one is ready to go into your vintage handbag collection, or to take just a few tiny items - your keys and lippy maybe, to a special occassion!
