1899 London Hallmark Victorian Silver Buckle (SOLD)
This sturdy 2 piece silver buckle weighs around 80 grams. It is typical of the late Victorian period and was Hallmarked in London in 1899. It is 12cms (almost 5 inches) and 7cms almost 3 inches at it's widest point. The design features two classical ladies heads with foliate scrolling around and the item was made by a casting process. It has a good patina and is in excellent condition. The hallmarks are present on the front of both pieces and, like most items of this period, take some finding as they are disguised by the decoration. There are maker's marks too and these appear to be 'CS'. A piece of great quality and beauty.
